Having a Baby in UAE-Birth Certificate Requirements

This article is for the expats planning to have a baby in U.A.E. Birth Certificate is the first step and very important as it is required for applying for the passport, emirates ID ,UAE Visa and the identification card from your own country. In case you are not able to obtain the baby’s visa 4 months after the birth, the baby becomes illegal and there is a per day fine.

Here is a quick checklist of documents you should keep handy with you so that having a birth certificate issued is smooth and fast.

Birth Certificate Requirements

  1. The father or his representative should provide:
  2. Original live birth notification, this will be provided by the hospital so remember to collect this letter
  3. Family Book for nationals, original & copy
  4. Parents passports for non-nationals (residence Visa and passports must be valid) original & copy
  5. Emirates Identity Card (original & copy)
  6. Marriage Certificate- if marriage certificate has been issued from outside UAE, it must be sealed from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of UAE (original & copy)
